Class Description
I've been practicing music therapy these days and enjoying it. The repertoire I was given to start with was a whole ton of classic pop and soul music, and I feel inspried to teach that music to the class as well as have more jam sessions/create more and do fundamntals along the way.
Tom Deis has a degree in music education from Berklee college of music and over 20 years of music teaching experience. His experience and training in music has taken him through many styles including western classical, jazz, indian classical, and various African styles. He is passionate about inspiring musical creativity in students and loves to incorporate improvisation and composition into his teaching. He has also been a guitarist on John Legend’s Grammy-nominated children’s album “My Favorite Dream”, toured internationally and composed for films such as Netflix’s “Take your pills” and HBO’s “Jagged”. He currently plays bass and harmonium in the improvisatory Sufi music ensemble Falsa, among other musical ventures and enjoys being a father in the Hudson valley.
